Self-identifying as a chiropractor but not a Mormon

I converted to Mormonism as a teenager and left the church after graduating from BYU. I practiced as a chiropractor for a little over one year, but I still consider myself a chiropractor.

Other jobs might make demands on your skills, but if you are deficient you can do something about it. A lumberjack or a musician can improve with practice: try harder. But lumberjacks and musicians are not required to believe.

This is as good an explanation as any other for why I continue to identify as a chiropractor but not a Mormon.

To be a Mormon, you must believe.

To be a chiropractor does not require belief… al least, not anymore.
